What a pigeon problem looks like from the ground
You hear it before you see it. Cooing above the ceiling before dawn. Scratching across the roof. Then the droppings show up: white streaks down the tiles, a crust along the gutter line, splatter across the driveway and patio under the array. Feathers in the pool. Nest twigs blocking the downspout. These signs justify a closer inspection; they do not show how much material is beneath the panels.
Look at the roof edge below the array on a sunny afternoon. Pigeons perch on the panel edge to sun themselves and step back under when it gets hot. Birds on the roof alone do not establish that there is an active nest underneath. Report repeated entry into the cavity or visible young without approaching them. Send CA Solar Wash a photo from the ground and the team tells you what the team expects to find.

What removal includes
Pigeon removal is a cleanup job done at height, over live electrical equipment, in material that has to be handled properly. This is the full scope.
- Full inspection of the array: every open span, every nest, every point where droppings have built up.
- Permitted nest material, feathers and debris removed after the activity and access checks.
- Droppings scraped and washed from the roof surface, panel frames and undersides.
- Any surface treatment named separately, with compatibility and intended use explained.
- Gutters and downspouts below the array cleared of nest material and flow-checked.
- Before-and-after photographs of the cavity, the roof and the gutter line.
Why droppings are a health job, not a hose job
Disturbing material contaminated with Histoplasma can release fungal spores, according to the CDC. This does not establish that a particular roof is contaminated. Heavy accumulations need a job-specific handling plan; do not dry-sweep or blow the material into the air.
Before work, agree how the area below the array will be kept clear and how debris will be contained and removed. Tell CA Solar Wash about nearby open windows, patios and pets. Cleaning is not a health clearance or a promise that a disinfectant eliminates every biological hazard.

Removal, cleanup and exclusion are one job
Scroll sideways to see all columns.
| Step | What it solves | What it does not solve |
|---|---|---|
| Removal | Gets the birds, nests and debris out today. | Does not stop the same birds walking back in tomorrow. |
| Droppings cleanup | Removes agreed accessible deposits and debris from the work area. | Does not close the cavity. A clean cavity is still a cavity. |
| Gutter clearing | Restores drainage and stops the overflow that nest material causes. | Does not stop new material arriving from above. |
| Mesh exclusion | Closes the identified entry points with a fitted barrier. | Does not clean what is already under there, so it comes last. |
| Bird spikes | Takes away the ridge, parapet and ledge perches nearby. | Does not close the gap under the panels on its own. |
Removal without exclusion is a repeat booking
An open cavity remains accessible after cleanup. A fitted barrier addresses that access, while removal alone addresses the material present on the day. Check old mesh for openings and plan any new exclusion around future panel or roof work.
That is why every pigeon removal quote from CA Solar Wash includes the exclusion line. Take it or leave it, but see the whole number up front. No hidden fees and no surprise add-ons on the day. That is the No Hidden-Fee Guarantee. Read the bird proofing page for how the mesh goes on, why nothing is drilled through your roof, and what the Workmanship Warranty covers.
What to do while waiting for the inspection
Take photos from the ground and note where birds enter, where debris falls and whether you have noticed young birds. Keep those areas clear of furniture and food. Leave nests and mesh undisturbed until the activity is assessed.
Include the existing bird guard, gutters and affected patio in your quote request. Panel removal, electrical repair, wildlife rehabilitation and a specialist contamination assessment are not assumed to be included in an exterior cleaning quote.
