Start with what you have noticed
Most people call knowing what is wrong, not what it is called. Panels that look dull from the street. A production figure that slid. Scratching above the ceiling before dawn. Water pouring over the front of a gutter in the first real storm. Each points at a service. Some point at two.
The thing you called about is often the symptom. Repeated gutter blockage can come from leaves, nesting or a drainage defect. Reappearing spots can involve overspray, runoff or the glass itself. Describe the condition so the quote addresses the likely scope without treating a symptom as a confirmed diagnosis.

| What you have noticed | The service | What to send with your request |
|---|---|---|
| Cooing, scratching, droppings or feathers around the array | Solar panel bird proofing and critter guard | How long it has been going on, and which side of the roof you hear it |
| Nests, packed debris and droppings already under the panels | Pigeon removal and bird nest removal | A ground-level photo of the array edge and the roof below it |
| Panels look dull, or production has slid gradually | Solar panel cleaning | Panel count, roof material, number of stories, a ground-level photo |
| Visible-condition record or cleaning plan needed | Solar panel maintenance | A screenshot of your production history over recent months |
| Gutters filling with leaves and debris every season | Gutter guard installation | Number of stories, roofline length, and whether guards are already fitted |
| Water overflowing, or downspouts not draining | Gutter cleaning | Number of stories, approximate run length, and whether you have solar |
| Streaking, staining, moss or growth on the roof | Roof cleaning | Roof material and age, plus a photo of each affected side |
| Driveway, patio, stucco or fencing looking tired | Pressure washing and house washing | Surface type, approximate area, and photos |
| Spotting on glass that will not wipe off | Window cleaning | A close-up photo of the worst pane |
| Lighting along the roofline without a ladder every December | Permanent lighting | A photo of the front elevation and what you want the lighting to do |
Bundle the visit. Get the order right.
Several services may share access and setup. Ask for an itemized combined quote so you can compare the actual cost with separate visits and choose which work to approve.
Sequence matters as much as the saving. Roof and hard surfaces first. Panel glass after. Windows last. Any other order drops runoff and airborne dirt onto what was just cleaned. Book several services together and CA Solar Wash orders them that way without being asked.
Method decides the result
CA Solar Wash uses deionized water and soft brushes for standard solar glass cleaning, without pressure washing modules. The specific module instructions still govern suitable tools, water and access. Electrical components and damaged glass need the responsible solar contractor.
Roof cleaning depends on the actual tile, shingle, finish and manufacturer instructions; tile is not blanket permission for high pressure. Gutters are cleared by hand and every downspout is flow-checked. Bird proofing means galvanized steel mesh clipped to the module frames with zero roof penetration, and optional bird spikes on the perches. Every job ends with before-and-after photos.
What every quote names, whoever you hire
A quote is only comparable if both describe the same work. On a solar array that means the method, and whether nest removal and cleanup happen before any mesh goes on. On a roof it means the pressure and how runoff is handled. On gutters it means whether the downspouts are flow-tested or just emptied. On permanent lighting it means what the install attaches to and who is on the roof doing it.
It also names what is not included. Cleaning is not repair. CA Solar Wash does not do electrical work on solar systems, service inverters, re-hang sagging gutter runs or fix roof damage. When the team finds something in that category, the team photographs it and tells you whose trade it belongs to. That beats a vague promise to take care of it.
