About these photographs
This collection brings together the solar, roof, gutter and exterior cleaning photography from our original CA Solar Wash website. Captions describe what you can see in each image.
For a closer look at work relevant to your property, ask CA Solar Wash for examples with your quote. Photos taken before and after your own visit document the areas cleaned and protected.
What gets photographed, and why
Ask for before-and-after photographs of the same sections as part of the agreed scope. The reason is practical. Almost nobody can see their own roof. Without photographs, "we cleaned it" is a claim you take on trust, and the parts that matter most are exactly the parts you cannot check from the ground: what was under the array, whether the mesh corners are closed, whether the downspout actually runs.
It also keeps the record honest about what did not fully come back. Etched glass, permanent staining in porous concrete and old oil in a driveway slab do not disappear, and the photographs show that as plainly as they show the improvement. The expectation gets set in the images, not argued afterward.
What a good before-and-after actually shows
The useful pair is the same section, same angle, same light, minutes apart. It shows more than "cleaner". It shows what kind of soiling was there: an even film, a heavy band along the lower edge, a scatter of droppings, or bonded mineral spotting that needed dwell time. Each tells you something different about your property and your interval.
Different angles and lighting make comparisons less reliable. When you compare contractors, ask for a matched pair, not a gallery of finished shots. A finished image alone does not establish the starting condition, job location or measured result.
Under the array is where the evidence is
The photographs that surprise people are rarely of the glass. They are of what was underneath: packed nesting material, droppings on the roof covering, cable ties pulled loose, debris blocking the drainage path to the gutter. None of it shows from the ground. Ask which areas could actually be seen without removing or disturbing panels.
That is why the bird proofing photographs matter most. A finished mesh perimeter is easy to photograph flatteringly and hard to verify from a ladder, so the images CA Solar Wash sends cover the corners and terminations, not a wide shot. Closed corners are where bird proofing succeeds or fails. Look at the corners in anyone's photographs.
Use the photographs after the job
Keep them. A dated photograph opens a conversation with your original installer about something still under warranty, and that conversation goes better with an image attached. Selling the property? A record of the array being maintained belongs with the rest of the paperwork.
They also set your own cleaning interval. Compare the "before" image from one visit to the next. If the array is visibly worse after nine months than it was after six, that tells you something no general recommendation can. Your photographs stay between you and CA Solar Wash unless you say otherwise.
